Dr. Dahiya's research focuses on chemical kinetics of fuel combustion and thermal-fluid design of heat exchangers using advanced CFD techniques. His work combines detailed reaction mechanisms with high-fidelity simulations to improve energy system efficiency and safety.

🎓 Prerequisites

  • ✓ Strong background in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related fields
  • ✓ Proficiency in programming (Python, MATLAB, or C/C++)
  • ✓ Good English communication skills (writing and speaking)
  • ✓ Self-motivated and eager to learn
  • ✓ Prior experience with CFD software is a plus but not required

Fall Admission: Applications accepted from January to May
Spring Admission: Applications accepted from August to November
• Selected candidates will be invited for an interview
• Decision typically within 2-4 weeks after interview

📄 Lab Rules & Expectations

Please read and adhere to the following lab policies

⏰ Working Hours

Lab members are required to maintain consistent working hours. Choose one of the following schedules:

  • Option 1: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (with 1-hour lunch break)
  • Option 2: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM (with 1-hour lunch break)

Important: Time spent attending courses is counted as working hours. No need to extend your hours on course days.
• Consistency in your chosen schedule is expected to maintain lab productivity and collaboration.

📅 Leave Policy

  • Advance Notice: All leave requests must be submitted at least one day before the intended absence
  • Same-Day Leave: If you need to take leave on the same day, inform Dr. Dahiya immediately. Approval will depend on the urgency and nature of the situation
  • Communication: Send leave requests via email to anurag@ccu.edu.tw with:
    • Date(s) of absence
    • Reason for leave
    • Any pending work arrangements
  • Emergency Leave: In case of medical emergencies or unforeseen circumstances, inform as soon as possible

👥 Professional Conduct & Research Ethics

  • ✓ Maintain a professional and respectful attitude towards all lab members
  • ✓ Keep your workspace clean and organized
  • ✓ Respect equipment and computational resources - report any issues immediately
  • ✓ Maintain confidentiality of unpublished research data and findings
  • ✓ Give proper credit and acknowledge contributions in all research work
  • ✓ Attend all scheduled group meetings and one-on-one discussions
  • ✓ Respond to emails and messages within 24 hours during working days

📊 Progress Reporting & Deadlines

  • ✓ Submit weekly progress reports every Friday by 5:00 PM
  • ✓ Present your research progress in group meetings as scheduled
  • ✓ Meet all internal deadlines for manuscript submissions, conference abstracts, and reports
  • ✓ Notify your advisor immediately if you anticipate missing a deadline
  • ✓ Maintain a detailed lab notebook (digital or physical) documenting your work
  • ✓ Back up your data and code regularly to prevent loss

⚠️ Non-Compliance

Repeated violations of lab policies without valid reasons may result in:

  • Formal warning and documented discussion
  • Loss of access to lab resources and equipment
  • Reduction or withdrawal of financial support
  • In severe cases, dismissal from the research group
